FLOWERS WITH THE TEA BOOK CLUB PODCAST IS NOW OPEN!
FEATURED BOOK TO BE REVIEWED ON EPISODE 1: March 2025
Book: The Devil's Half Acre
Author: Kristen Green
Adult reading and writing literacy awareness involves recognizing and understanding the significance of literacy skills—particularly reading and writing—in adults' lives. This awareness is essential for advancing educational programs and resources that help adults enhance these skills, which are crucial for personal, professional, and business intellectual growth. Literacy awareness among adults encompasses recognizing the necessity of literacy in diverse contexts, ranging from everyday tasks like reading instructions or bills to more complex activities such as workplace communication, civic engagement, and lifelong learning.
As a result, A.Abyla Lloyd initiated a digital book club named Flowers with the Tea, backed by The Rhymer's Corner podcast. Members set aside their phones to read a book and meet to savor their preferred tea while discussing whether the book deserves the admiration of beautiful flowers or should be dismissed as one for the weeds. Amidst fun and entertainment, the goal of this podcast book club is to promote adult education, particularly in reading and writing literacy.
The podcast Flowers with the Tea will be featured on The Rhymer's Corners podcast's Spotify channel and website. Details about the show will be available in March 2025.
Meet the Hosts:
Lleigh Haydricks
I’m thrilled to present Flowers with the Tea co-host, an exceptional young woman who truly deserves your attention, named Lleigh Hendricks. At only 25, Lleigh is a biology graduate from the stunning city of Cape Town, South Africa. She prefers to be called Lleigh, as it is short, distinctive, and mirrors her direct perspective on life.
You might wonder about Lleigh's position in the literary world. She may not have significant influence, and she readily acknowledges that this is completely fine. It's important to remember that every renowned author started as an unknown writer, and Lleigh is on her path to establishing her reputation. Growing up in Cape Town, she embraced the vibrancy of her daily life. The sights, sounds, and experiences of her hometown inspired her, but in 2024, she decided to make a major change. Lleigh packed her things, bid farewell to her cherished home, and bravely moved across the ocean to the United States.
She established a personal objective: spending a whole year to uncover her true self. Isn't that exciting? In a world where we're often pressured to have everything figured out, Lleigh is allowing herself the time to explore her identity and passions without rushing. There's something incredibly liberating about deciding to leave your comfort zone and explore the unknown.

Andrea, as a producer, has shown her talent in curating outstanding projects that engage viewers. Her film "Bonita Murals" was chosen as an official selection at the prestigious Golden State Film Festival in 2023. A.Abyla Lloyd
Originally from Chicago, LaTonya Andrea Patterson, known by her stage name A.Abyla Lloyd, emerged as a creative writer upon discovering her son Victor's diagnosis on the autism spectrum. The challenge of balancing mental health, motherhood, and a career in accounting became a pivotal moment, with A.Abyla's emotional breakdown acting as the catalyst for her current work as a spoken word artist. Touring across the country, especially at open mics, allows A.Abyla to refine her performance skills while engaging with communities in various cities. Beyond spoken word, A.Abyla shares her story poetically in her upcoming book, "Rise of the Chrysalis," set to launch in 2024. Other projects she plans to release soon include "The Rhymer's Corner" podcast and a nonprofit in honor of her son Victor, Talented Hands Special Needs Fine Arts. She is currently on the board of directors for the emerging nonprofit organization Premier Destiny in Phoenix, Arizona, and is part of the business management team for California nonprofit Create Noise Productions.
